I have a 2 year old son who has my last name. I'm currently 7 months pregnant with another boy. My boyfriend has been in my life for about 1 in a half years taking care of my 2 year old and I. My boyfriend wants me to name my unborn child after him, and we are taking about changing my two year old last name to his, after all he is all he knows. I want o know if this is possibly. And how would I go about changing my son's last name. I'm the only person on his birth certificate anyway.

If you get married, legal adoption w/name change is a phenomenal idea. Cement that family firmly. That's what we did in our family.
If you aren't getting married, I would back-burner the idea. Your current pregancy should result in a child with the same last name as his legal parent, that's you. If you're married by then, it's a non-issue.
People don't get married for a lot of reasons, but they DO for one very good reason and that is that they are ready to call it a lifetime commitment. Until you reach that point, those kids only have 1 absolute and that is you.

Your life is going fairly quick... being 7 months pregnant this seems to be a lot on your plate at this time. Why not worry about having a healthy child and all 3 of you having the last name... since you are not married at this time. Who knows what time will bring? If this boyfriend/father is in it for the long ride he has lots of time to look into adoption/marriage. Have you ever considered hyphenating all 3 of your names with this boyfriends name for the time being? My brother and his wife did this and all worked out well in the end... all they did was drop her maiden name when they married and all worked out wonderful.JUST A THOUGHT FOR YOU.. IS ALL
