Have an Electric Furnace/Heatpump. With central air.

Replaced Electric Furnace in Sept. Today my tenant said that the 10 year old outside heat pump grates get "Iced" .

Heat works OK, but sometimes have to turn it up to 72 or 73 degrees They say they always change the filter.

When the new furnace was installed the heat pump refg. Was rechgarged.

Any ideas?

Its normal for a heatpump to get ice on it in the winter. It checks its self for ice every 30,60 or 90 minutes of run time (time depends on what each board is set up for) to see if it needs to defrost.
