I just bought my daughter a distressed white daybed and dresser. I have shabby chic bedding on it. I am trying to paint an antique vanity to go in the room. I want to paint it light pink in a distressed manner. I have sanded it and plan to prime it, what do I do after that? Two coats of pale pink or one darker pink or?? Also... The handles are really neat- is it strange to leave them the original dark color? Should I paint them to match and distress them as well?

Would it be possible for you to provide some images here of the daybed, dresser and vanity so that we could have more of an idea as to what the vanity is to go along with as far as looks, please? Also, do you know what kind of wood the vanity is made of?

Picture would be of help. Once you get a second color on the dresser you can sand off just a bit of the top coat on corners and various spots to age it. You can also buy an antiquing kit of paint that is actually designed to crack/shrink and look old.
