I have a friend, his girlfriend put a restraining order against him last night and the cops arrested him and they are telling him that he can not go to his house. How can this be?
The lease is in his name and she's at the house. What can he do to be out of the lease?
Can he call the cops and ask to take her out of the apartment because of trespassing?
( she has a child 2 yrs old, not my friend though). They are located in RI.Thanks for the help.

If she was living with him in the apt and she got a restraining order, then he can't go back to the apt. He needs to get an attorney to fight the order and/or get her evicted from his apt.

In the meantime, he can get the police to come with him so he can pick up some of his things, but he can't go near her on his own.
