Hi guys..

My partner and I are currently having iui treatment. We are having regular visits for scans to identify when my partner will ovulate.

The thing is they suspect that we may miss this months ovulation as it may fall on the weekend and they won't carry out any treatment weekends. They have suggested we could take a injection to hold back ovulation (forgot what's it called now) and then have hcg injection to start ovulation so we can have the treatment Monday.

The thing is we have had iui treatment before, four times before. The first two times we conceived and the second two times we never, the second two times we had the injections as its has been that its fallen on weekends.

This time round, our fifth time round, we wanted it to be natural without injections as we feel maybe a little unlucky while taking these injections. The clinic have always told us these injections would not effect anything at all. We are not sure as the times we did take them we haven't conceived.

I know it could be just tough luck, but I wanted some opinions please.

I'm afraid I don't know much on this particular subject. All I can say is conception is always a tricky subject, its got to be perfect timing, circumstances, etc(and some good ol fashion luck helps) sometimes it just takes time. I had some friends that tried to conceive a baby of their own for about a good 15-20 years, and they had finally given up and adopted a little girl. Within about 3 years of adopting her, they conceived a baby girl and she was healthy and strong, no problems, just a complete surprise. So you never know, sometimes it just takes time and relaxation(as stress actually deters your chances of conception.) Good luck to you and your guy and best of wishes

Well In my opinion there is your answer.

Try this time without the injections. Then if you don't fall pregnant, try to plan with your office to map out ovulation and try to make it occur during the week.

Personally, I would assume any injection that is haulting the ovulation process then restarting it would result in a lower quality egg... thus may be the reason you don't get pregnant with the injections.

Good luck.

Hi you Guys.. Thank you for your replies.

I spoke to a nurse last night who said we would just need the hormone drug (HCG) so my partner would defiantly ovulate tomorrow. It's a drug to release more hormones or something so ovulation defiantly happens 24hrs after the injection.

She said there is no chance it would effect any chances of pregnancy or not, in fact it may increase your chances as you know when ovulation is set to happen.

We are having the injection tomorrow morning 8.30am and the insemination around 5pm.

I really hope it works.

Thanks again
