Hi,

I arrived in US on 3rd November 2007 on a L1 Visa with my wife. She is on L2 and soes not have a SSN or ITIN. I have few questions regarding filing my tax returns

Which forms do I need to fill in
Does my wife need a ITIN as I am claiming her as a dependent
What's the last cutoff date
Since I have not completed 183days to claim as a resident alien in US, is the process different?
What all exemptions I can claim?

Moreover I will be filing my Taxes in India for the period I worked there, i.e. From March 07- Oct 07. Does this affect anyway my tax return in US.

I am asking all these questions because I went to H&R block and they told me that they will charge $300 for my tax returns...

Thanks
Deeptiman

You should probably file as a non-resident alien. With less than two month's income, it is likely you will have little, if any, tax liablity, even if you cannot claim your wife as a dependent.

As for the $300 charge from H&R Block, I will beat that hands down. Email at the address below.
