My puppy is about 10 weeks old. He has not had his shots yet. My friends chris wants me to go and stay the weekend with him when he gets into town so that means that I need to take my dog with me. Well his room mates dog just got over parvo about a month ago. Should I take my dog over there. I mean do you think my puppy will get parvo? Maybe if I go to ranch and home and just get him a parvo shot it will all be good. I don't know what to do? Or if I should risk it.

NO NO NO Even if the puppy got treated and is beter, the virus stay's everywhere even outside. The only way to kill the virus, I believe from what I read is bleach and water.

NO!! The virus is in the carpet, rugs, grass, floorboards, tile, maybe bedding if it hasn't been washed thoroughly, furniture, and anywhere that dog has been.

I have even heard that it can be brought in on the bottom of your shoes.
Please get your dog its shots... it is such a slow grueling painful death for both the dog and the owners. Please keep your puppy away from other dogs until it has had its shots.

Yes, you do need to get the puppy its shots, but no shot will protect the puppy until it has about 2 weeks to build immunity. And you can't count on any one shot being effective. I think for the sake of your puppy, it would be better if you didn't even go yourself.

I would even stay away from this person until your pup has had at least a couple of shots! May be awkward, but better than risking your pup's health. I read somewhere (can't remember) that one infected dog sheds enough virus in its stool to infect [U]every dog on earth[U]--assuming that you could find a way to spread it that far

I've also heard the parvo virus can linger for more than a year! Get those shots and stay clear of the known infected areas... why risk it? You might consider hand washes, bleaching or spraying shoes, etc before the boyfriend is even around where your puppy is.

Nothing against the boyfriend, but that is one disease you want to do everything you can to keep away from your puppy!

I hope you didn't go over there!! I picked my puppy up one day, stopped by my sisters house, and my pup died from Parvo just days later. After that, I was informed to bleach EVERYTHING, including my yard. Not worth the risk!
