What is the right way to finish the garage door opening, before installing the garage door?

The opening gets lined with a 1x6 pine fascia. Your door is actually hung just behind this fascia board and seals againist the board on the back edge. Measure the width of your door and then shim the fascia so the finished opening is 2" smaller than the wdoor width allowing a 1" overhang on each end.
