I think you should rule out pregnancy. A physician should evaluate you. A thorough office exam, blood panel, pelvic exam, blah blah. None of it is fun, I know.
Oh, that DEPO. The pamphlets they hand out with it say that the average weight gain is 3% per year. I gained 44 pounds in 3 months (did not eat more or exercise less.) No more than one shot for me. The weight would not come off! Then, I got pregnant and miscarried and my weight went back to normal. DEPO messes up hormone levels for many women, changes how you gain, lose and carry weight and alters menstrual periods. It can cause or worsen existing depression.
You should see your physician soon. If you have gained 300 pounds in the past year, they need to assess where your health is at now and to rule out, (or in) pregnancy. Is getting your tubes tied an option? If your partner is willing to have a vasectomy, that's both cheaper and easier than getting your tubes tied.
