My husband and I are trying to get grants and/or loans so that we can buy some land and start our ranch. We have spoken with the USDA, but they led us to a dead end so far. Does anyone know where we can find grants and/or loans to buy land?

One way that may be of interest to you is to look into free government land. I was looking into that years back and if I'm not mistaken the site was Public Land Title (http://www.governmentland.com)

Evidently, they'll sell you (40?) acre parcels for next to nothing as long as you develop it.
