My mother has arthritis and has been taking a combination supplement (glucosamine, chondrotin, and MSM) that is known to improve arthritis. However, recently she has also started eating two celery stalks because celery is also known to clean out body toxins and help with arthritis. My question is, considering the large amount of toxins that celery cleans out of the body, is it possible that it could also be cleaning out the nutrients that her body needs (such as the glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM)? She usually takes the supplement in the morning and eats the celery at night. Is that enough time for the supplement to get into her body's cells before the celery cleans out everything in the evening?

Secondly, I am a vegetarian, but I also eat 2 celery stalks a day to keep my colon clean and stomach flat. Does eating too much celery clean out the small amount of protein and other nutrients that I do take in. Should I reduce my celery intake to once or twice a week?

All advice from those well versed on the subject are welcome. Thanks a bunch!

The celery should be all right and not be detoxing the supplements. Most vegetables optimize nutrients.
Cabbage inhibits iodine but I don't think there is a problem with celery.

***In fact, I just looked it up and they have glucosamine with celery
