Im 15 and a high school drop out.I droped out last September the reason because I wasn't feeling comfertable speaking in front of the class.I have a problem speaking clear. My parents say it was because of a accident I had when I was a kid.I fell and broke my 4 front teeth and had to learn to talk without my front teeth. Ever since middleschool I started getting teased and in high school I started feeling uncomfertAble in the class situation.I like high school I wouldn't mind it if I could speak clear like a normal person.I don't Do much Now except wake up and eat and maintain.I Have no Problem doing the classwork and tests. I wouldn't mind being in a school you know. You get to socialize I like talking to people but I think I need to learn how to speak clear. Anyway I need to get my life together because I think I want to go to college. Any advice

Illmatic - I guess I will start by saying that you should ( GO ) back to school, you will need it to make anything out of your life. GO to the princeable and talk to him about your speech problem, and what has been going on about it and also tell him or her about standing in front of the cllass, what it does to you. Is your teeth still missing?? There is ways that you can get them fixed if your parents cannot afford to have it done. What ever you do stay in school, you sound like someone that truly , wants to make something out of himself, instead of ending up on the streets and in trouble every time you turn around, and fineally ending up in prison. then your life will be ruined for the rest of your life, It is such a shame that other children that by luck has nothing worong with them and they think that gives them the right to make fun of others that do, and can't help it But I want you to know that really it's not there fault ,it boils down to one thing there up bringing from their parents . Have your mom or dad to check with the health dept. - and dept. of human services, about some way to get your teeth fixed . I wish I knew your local. Try to keep us posted. Good Luck,GOD BLESS. :::: F.B.E.

Your school should have a connection with a speech pathologist. Talk to your guidance counselor or the principal about how you can begin meeting with one. You will get speaking/pronunciation exercises to work on at home. Within a few months, you should be in great shape!

Just a few weeks ago a new school opened in my area. The new school operates during evening hours, and it is a multi-district school for students to earn their high school diploma, not just the GED. I think it may be part of the "No Child Left Behind" law passed by the federal government because a lot of money has been spent on the building and paying for teachers who are teaching in a non-traditional manner. You may find one of these schools in your area as well. How would you find out? Contact your old school and see if there is a night-time program. Also, ask a librarian or elected city/county official.

Hi,
I used to hate speaking in front off my class when I was at school, I used to find it so embarrassing! I expained it to my teachers and from then on they gave me a break. Ya I did have to speak but not as often.
Also as the saying goes, school years are the best years of your like. That was definitely the case for me. IT would be a shame if you missed out on it... Speak to your parents about going back.

There should be a solution. Even if you do not go back to your school there should be an alternative school you can go to. As the others said you/your parents need to ask around.
Also there is cyberschool and your school district should pay for that if that is what you go with. You can type cyber school your county in the search engine to see if there are any available in your area. Also if you do cyber school or home schooling your school is not allowed to keep you from the extra curricular school activities.
