I have a 2001 Cheverolet Malibu, six cylinder, 3.1L engine. I have two trouble codes that have been coming up one is P0403 (EGR solenoid control circuit malfunction) and the other is P0405 (EGR sensor circuit low). I have already changed the EGR valve. The light still comes on. I have a OBDII scanner. The problem is so bad it won't even allow me to delete the code and turn the light off. When I cancel the code it comes right back on. I appreciate any help I can get.

I always heard the only way to get it turned off is you have to take it to a mechanic to turn the code off.
I heard they use to be programmed to come on every so many thousand miles even if there isn't a problem. I don't know if that is still true.

If your scan tool offers to remove code and it comes back you still have a problem. Could be wiring to egr system is damaged resulting in an open, or grounded circuit. Voltage low is just that, less than expected voltage so either open or shorted to ground. Check pin connections, and harness for rubbing through.

I have a 2001 Malibu and have had my engine check light come on and stay on. I took it to the dealer and there is a computer update for the PCM. Apparently the computer is calibrated wrong and this update corrects it. Only took 15 minutes to get it corrected. The error code P1404.
