I have a 1995 ford escort 1.9 and it isn't changing gears correct. It will go into reverse no problem, but when you start to go it stays in first gear unless I rev it some and then it tries to go into second but then it downgears real hard when slowing down. Please help me .

Dear, don't keep driving your car until you have it looked at. The Ford Escorts are notorious for having gear shift problems. Your gear shift needs to be looked at as soon as possible as pretty soon you'll only have one gear - and that's going to be reverse.
