Where are people getting the idea that their W2s are online for the asking? I know we live in the age of information and with electronic filing it makes some sense, but why would they just think they can go to some site and get this info? This is highly personal info that would be carefully guarded.

And why don't people try reading the other threads that ask this same question instead of asking it over and over.

The FACT is that an employer can elect to make the W2 available online. It is a choice on the part of the employer. If the employer DOES elect to do so, they will inform their employees that they are doing so and give them the information on how to access it.

So there is NO way for us to tell you how to do this. Only your employer can tell you how to access the info.

Agreed, if they were available online, your company would have told you, and furnished you with the passcode that you need. W2's do not come from the IRS and are not from the government, your company you work for prints them up and sends them out. There are some but most do not put them online.

Wal-mart does offer their w2's online. To access it u go to http://secure.w2express.com and follow the login info. U have to opt to have it delivered to u electronically to be able to access it or they will mail it to u the beginning of February. Hope this helps.
