SOunds like you need to replace the thermocouple or the thermopile itself this time. Easy replacement, really. Just pull old thermocouple or thermopile out and go to your local plumbing supply house and they will give you what you need. (they do not carry thermopiles at home supply stores.. but they do carry thermocouples... so if a thermocouple head to the nearest home improvement store).

Be sure to check the thermostat wiring too as this can sometimes disconnect and that will also cause the clicking out of the gas valve.

Is the thermocouple where the pilot light gets lit?

Yes... for thermocouple or thermopile, follow it back to where it ties into the gas valve... disconnect wires or wire like thermocouple and unscrew in near flame area... USE strong flashlight so can see all.

OK I can see what you are talking about.. when I wiggle it the pilot light turns yellow-orange for a sec...

Thank you very much for your help!

I use to wonder about this myself when I had one. The answer is to continue pushing in on the red button for at least a min after the pilot lites. Try it!

Thanks again... unfortntly I have tried that... I figured maybe it pumps the gas into the line but it doesn't seem to help..

Thanks again though..
