I am nj residence and my husband work at New York city.
But yesterday, I got 1099g form.
He is the one who work in New York, but it was issued to my social security number.
I used to be a house wife, and 4 month ago I got my job and started to report my taxes.
And we have joint tax..
Why this form is issue to my social number?

Who was the 1099g from? On last years return did you get a refund from NYS? Does the 1099G match the amount of the refund? Maybe your SSN was listed as primary on the return.

Form 1099G is used to report state income tax refunds, but it is also used to report unemployment compensation.

Were you unemployed at any time in 2007 during which time you got paid unemployment compensation?

If not, call the state and ASK why they issued it under your SSN.

If you file jointly, it really does not matter, though.
