Can someone please give me some ides of where to look for the landlords number to the house next to me, I have tried to look in property appraisers in the county where we live, the name that comes up is not in the phone book, these people that moved in are underage, and there is all kinds of traffic coming and going at all hours of the night. And we have small children all we want is it to be peaceful here again and safe for our kids to play outside. So if anyone can give me some info on where to look I would be greatly thankful.)

Ji998 - even if the landlord lives out of state, they should have a address for him ,where you have already checked, also it is public record, try the electric company, the water dept. if they have naturl gas going to the house ,check with them, Check with realestate co'. In the area to see if any of them are takeing care of the house for the owner, such as keeping it rented, maintenance, etc. etc.. Some one go over to the house and ask them how to get in touch with the owner.:: I hope this gives you some ideas, If I have helped , Rate my answer below, Have a good day & GOD BLESS.:::: F.B.E,

There should be a record on file at the court house. Auditor's office I think? As to where the taxes are sent each year.

The local police might also be interested in the activity... these people that moved in are underage, and there is all kinds of traffic coming and going at all hours of the night... sounds like a little enterprise to me... I'd also suggest extreme caution in contacting the land lord... just in case it is a relative. You don't need any hostility directed back at you if that is the situation.

Utility companies should not give you this info on another person's property - your Town's Assessor's Office has an address where the tax bills are sent. This IS public record and often available on line.

I don't think it's reasonable to call all the realtors in the area and see if any of them are responsible for the house (so many realtors, so little time, this may not be public info) or it's safe to go next door and ask how to get in touch with the owner - unless the tenants are really, really stupid - and perhaps they are.

Try the Town Assessor -

I would avoid calling the Police unless you are really, really sure something illegal is going on - and be aware that if you do reach the owner he/she very possibly will tell the tenant (who, for all you know, is his brother/uncle/cousin/child) and things are going to go downhill fast.

JudyKayTee- THE Reason About realestate WAS because I worked for one once for a couple years and that is one of the things they done was manage property, for owners that lived out of state, where I am near all the realaters do this. When I contracted myself I had one person that was a retired fbi and lived in dallas Texas and owned 4 houses where near me and I took care of them for over 9 years.;; And you would be surprised how many people around here that checks with the power co. & water dept. She also stated in her question that she had already ben to the tax aessssersors office .:: I was trying to give her some good advice as how to go about getting her answers ;; I hope this answer is OK wiyh you, your explaintion didn't bother me at all , Two heads are always better then one anyway , right?; Well have a good day& and GOD BLESS ;;;; F.B.E.

Glad my explanation didn't bother you - I'm an investigator, not a realtor, and I locate "missing or absent" people all the time. In my area the property APPRAISER and property ASSESSOR are 2 different things.

I am surprised the manager/realtor is allowed to give out the name and address of property owners but whether that info is confidential or not must depend on the State. Likewise you cannot get someone else's info from a utility company here.

And, yes, 2 heads are DEFINITELY better than one (particularly because we all seem to be in different areas).

JUDYKAYTEE - I don't know of any law down in TN.around here that is the way most owners keep theirempty houses and apts. Rented. It would be very interesting to find out, if there is no one inforces it ,or knowes about it. In fact years ago when we were looking for a house to rent we checked with the utility co (ELECT.) and got a list of rental houses with owners ,(name, phone no.)plus which realstate offices in town handled reantal houses. I hope that things turn out right for her& her kids. But you are right about laws, codes etc.ect. Are different from one town or city from the other Well don't work to hardGood luck & GOD BLESS :::: F.B.E.

You don't mention what state you live in. In Ohio you cannot get any information from utility companies, that's private. I would suggest sending a letter to the address listed on the auditor's website, which will list where the tax bills are sent. And you should be careful, because as others have posted, you don't know if the renters are relatives of the landlord.
Also, I agree with the guyinohio, that you should definitely notify the police. You can tell them you do not want your name given out, that you want to stay anonymous. Just explain that you have serious concerns about the activity at 'whatever the address is' and that you'd like them to keep an eye on the house. If they are underage, you may want to call social services, and they will also send someone out to check on the children's welfare.
Good Luck and be safe.

Well as states, what ever it is called in your area, in the county court house, will be the office that sends out tax notices, it will give you a name and address of who is being charged the taxes. If there is no phone number, write them, send it registered, if it is a local address drive over and talk to them in person.

But please understand many what I call slum lords care less, if the people pay the rent that is all they care and many who sell drugs don't call the landlord for repairs since they don't want them there.
So call it crazy, to some slumlords they are considered a good tenant, pays their rent and never asks for anything.

Next how many times have you called the police and reported what was going on next door ?

I got rid of a set in my apartment complex this month, I got several of the tennants and we just stayed out front with my video camera filming anyone coming and going, they moved out in a week. But again that is me.

Also are they 18 what do you call underage ( the people who are the renters) and if they have a lease, the landlord will have to also prove they are using drugs, to evict them, So you can reprot them to the police as well as anyone can.
