4x = 8 + 2x
Take 2x from the right side to the left side.
When a term change sides in an equation, it sign changes.
(Another way of looking at it: subtract 2x from both sides)
Hence
4x - 2x = 8
(4 -2)x = 8
2x = 8
Divide both sides by 2
x = 8/2
x = 4
