Where do you send 1099-misc copy 1 2008? Does it get sent to your state tax dept or your receiptants state tax department?

The RED copy goes to the IRS. As long as the SSA, state, city and individual gets legible copies, it really does not matter who gets which copy.

I don't understand your answer. I have the same question? Do I send the 1099-misc Copy 1 to my state or the recipients state? Do I send this all by itself?

Send a legible copy of the Form 1099 to YOUR state tax authority and a legible copy of the Form 1099 to the recipient's state tax authority.
