Hello,
I did two internships with a company that hire me as 1099.
Im not sure what the process is to file my taxes.

Can I even be hire as a 1099 having a F1 visa? Or I have to be hire as w2?

Technically, you are supposed to be hired under a W-2.

However, since you are exempt from Social Security and Medicare taxes, it really makes no difference whether you get paid under a W-2 or 1099.

You DO have to file a Schedule C with Form 1040NR, but you also get to claim some expenses associated with earning that money on the Schedule C that you could NOT claim if you got paid under a W-2.
