:(

My partner and I are trying for a baby but nothing seems to be happening.

Up until March last year I was receiving the contraceptive injection and before that the implant. I then stopped. My periods returned to normal within 4-5 months and still get them regularly now.

Why am I not pregnant yet?

Your periods have little to do with being able to conceive. Your ovulation (egg release) and luteal phase (time after ovulation but before your period) is what's important. I'm not sure what contraceptions you were on, but they can have residual effects on your body for several months on average.

Now that you've been trying for nearly a year, call your doctor and ask if he/she thinks you should both have your fertility tested. Don't fret... its common that healthy couples try for a year before getting pregnant.

Ah, you were on the injection and before that the implant. How long were you on each?

It can take up to 18 months after discontinuing the injection alone to get pregnant.

Most likely you are not pregnant yet, because you may not be ovulating. Yes, you are bleeding, but both the injection and the implant cause you to stop ovulating. It can take up to a year and a half for ovulation to begin again.
