I live in Florida. I would like to know how can I find out if I am a U.S citizen? When I became a permanent Resident my parents were U.S Citizens. And I was under 18 years old. Now I am 29 years old and I would like to know if there's a number or place to go to find out if I am or not.

If your parents were US citizens, then you are too. If you are 29, how have you been working in the US ? Do you have a social insurance number ?

Interesting - I'm not sure I understand.

Were your parents born outside of the US, they became permanent residents and then they became US citizens but you were born outside the US, became a permanent resident and never filed for citizenship?

It would appear (?) to me that your parents became citizens when you were 18 but you did not, retaining your permanent resident status. You at that age would have had to apply for citizenship, it would not naturally flow from your parents.

I found the following:

There are 4 ways to become a U.S. citizen:

By birth in the U.S.
By birth abroad to a U.S. citizen parent or parents
Where a lawful permanent resident child under 18 lives in the U.S. with at least one citizen parent, or
Through naturalization
Birth in the U.S.
You are a U.S. citizen if you are born in the United States or, in most cases, in Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands. Your birth certificate is proof of your citizenship. You are not considered a U.S. citizen by birth if you are born in the United States and your parents are in the United States because they are foreign diplomats.

At some point you have or will need a birth certificate and proof of citizenship - what do you carry?

Yes, did you take citizenship classes and apply to be a US citizen when your parents did?

It sounds like you are still a perminant resident if you have never did anythhing to follow up on being a citizen

My parents are both naturalized citizens in 1976 I was born and brought to USA as a baby
Am I a citizen or not since we never applied for my citizen papers at 18 . Only cause we thought as a small child I was automatically a citizen through parent Naturalization. I am now 39 and have no clue
