Why does my body not leak water - since our bodies are made up of about 55-60% water- after I got my nose pierced?

You do perspire, but you may not notice it. I don't know of anyone's body that "leaks water" though.

Perspiration is one way that we remove toxins from our bodies.

Well yes of course we perspire - but why does our body not continually leak water fluids after a body part is pierced? For example the nose or belly button or ear.

Because the "water" is being used by our major organ systems, it does not just sit around in pools in different areas of our bodies.

You see, our blood is made up with water, our organs depend on water to work. When we bleed, we are losing fluid volume that includes water. If water were just hanging around all of our tissues we would be very swollen.

How about this- our bodies are made up of cells that combine to form tissues that combine to form organs that combine to form organ systems, For example: the skin (Integumentary System) is made up of cells that contain cell membranes that are made of a phospholipid bilayer that when punctured can reseal immediately. Does that sound right or am I missing something?

Reseal immediately?

Just think about it...

If it resealed immediately, would we continue bleeding if we are punctured or would the bleeding cease immediately with no drop of blood shed?

Oh - - well... how about It is a self sealing lipid bilayer when torn or punctured??

Homework?

Tell me what you think.

Think about it... if it's self-sealing then what would happen?
