Does the 2005 NEC allow bedroom and living room outlets to be on a 15amp circuit? I am familiar with the 80% rule. Thanks in advance. Tom

Yes, the 2005 NEC allows bedrooms and living room outlets to use 15 amp circuits. 15 Amp is also allows for all lighting circuits, and all other general purpose circuits.

The only circuits that must be a minimum of 20 amp are: kitchen, breakfast room, pantry, dining room, bathroom outlets, and laundry. All others may be 15 amp.

I'm rewiring an old house (1927)and ran all 14/2 for the bedroom/living room outlets, then read a post on another forum stating most city's require 12/2 20amp. Thought oh c__p I'll need to redo it.With the price of NMB these days well you know. Thanks again
