Hello I would like to know about a cut on my dogs lip the reason for the cut is that a dog got loose and came and fought him but before we could break the fight he got caught on the lip and he has a big cut on his lip and I would like to know if its necessary to have it sewed up or the wound would heal by itself .

Thank you ,

You might have the vet look at it if you feel that it does. I think if it's a really big cut it probably should be fixed up.

If it has quit bleeding, I would at least wait until morning and call the vet then. Chances are, the answer will be ''Maybe you had better bring him in.'' If it is still bleeding, better try the emergency number. My vets' regular number forwards to a paging service after hours. Over the years, I have had to use it a couple of times.

None of us can see him and really give a good answer.

Please post back when you have news. People here care.

Hi, Megaman,
You also need to check with the owner of the dog, that bit your dog, if you know them, about their shots for the dog.
Has that dog had shots it needs, up to date?
I do wish you the best.

Did you take your dog to the vet, please remember your other post I need my dog to gain weight (https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/showthread.php?t=17943), he had already been in a fight, what is really going on here :(

I realized that, it would be sad if we are used to help some one fight there dog,

I had reported it but it still is here, this type of thing is what gives the Pit-bull or American Stafford Terrier the bad rap they carry, it is sad

As much as I hate dog fighting, I don't want to be quick to judge even if it doesn't look good. He may just be wanting for his dog to be able to protect itself from the neighbor's dog. We must not punish the victim.

I never did get back to suggest complaining the to dog's owner and if that is fruitless the authorities. Unfortunately, too often the authorities do little too.
