How do I check to see if it is out of time? Sheared pin or?

You remove the blower housing from the top of the engine and remove the nut from the top of the flywheel. Then you will be able to see if the groove in the crankshaft and the groove in the flywheel are aligned. If not, the flywheel key is sheared and you will have to remove the flywheel from the crankshaft. USE A FLYWHEEL PULLER to perform this feat. Don't make the common mistake of prying with screwdrivers, or prybars as you can damage the magnets of the flywheel or worst yet, crack or bust the engine housing. Use extreme caution and care. Be sure to torque all items back to specs when re assembling.

Sorry Mower but I got to spread some around before I can give you another accurate rating but this is certainlly accurate advice. Right on down to how not break a flywheel. Oh well, less work for us again, sigh.

Well I put a new key in. and found a stuck valve which I beleave is the culpret for bending the aluminum push rod. I disasembeld the head and cleaned valves and ground them and seated them. Now it runs but not much power and the muffler gets red hot. So I'm thinking maybe I should have replaced w/new valves. I set exhaust (bigger valve on bottom at .009 and the intake. (smaller valve on top at .005 I turned motor over till piston came all the way up so that both exhaust and intake were no pressure on valve springs. I just don.t know what else to do. Could the cam have jumped time? :confused: :confused:

Okay, rotate the engine to TDC and go 1/4" (one quarter of an inch), past TDC. Then set the valves at .004" intake, and .005" exhaust.
