I have a Hampton Bay ceiling fan in my bedroom. It is cotroled by a remote. Sometimes when it is off the down light comes on by itself. Any clues why?

Could be interference from another remote. Change the codes. There is a set of 4 switches in the battery compartment of the remote, and another set in the receiver. Change both to another combination the same in each.
