Do you know some links for tenant rights regarding landlords house being foreclosed. In terms of settlements and damages for trouble, and expenses

Hello vince:

This is the only link I know of. Tell us what happened, and we'll tell you if you can sue the bastard.

First of course unless there is a written lease for longer than 30 day month to month, normally there is no recourse except for those few cities that have laws allowing to be paid for evictions that were not the renters fault.

So first you will have to have a written lease. But the real issue is that OK, you sue, and you even win, the people most likley don't have anything or they would not be losing the property. And if you did win, what if they just won't pay ? Garnish their wages,?
I hope you can and do but I just don't see much chance of actually ever getting any money.

Let me see if I can read between the lines. You were renting a house and its being foreclosed on so you have to move. Is that about it? If so, you have practically NO rights at all. The only way you might be able to recoup expenses and costs is if you can prove that the landlord knew the house would be foreclosed on when you signed the lease. Otherwise, you are stuck.

As soon as the foreclosure is finalized, your lease is terminated. You can probably get some time from the lender or new owenr to find a new place, but not much.
