My landlord ran an advertised special to lure you to sign a lease, owever if you terminate your lease prior to the 12 month term you have to pay "back" concession received. Ex. First month rent free and any move in specials/discounts is this allowed in North Carolina? I been told that this is not allowed. They also will not accept 30 day notices other than the first of the month this is not outlined in the lease but they try to up hold this.

Also I transferred units on the property and he is trying to hold me responsible for both leases the old apartment and the new one, and there is someone residin gin the old unit.

Hello x:

Yes, the landlord can make you pay back specials if you didn't keep the deal.

A 30 day notice must include a FULL rental period. Therefore, the 1st is appropriate and legal.

The landlord cannot collect double rent from two different tenants. You aren't falling for THAT okee doak, are you?
