Just notify by bank that a hold has been put on my acct by attorney of my last landlord. There was judgement against me in oct 2006 for 2300.00 in back rent payment. I moved out in dec 2006 because I couldn't come with payment and there was a marshall notice issued because it was holidays and the building was changing hands. I inform landlord was vacating apartment. I did not receive letter about putting lien on acct now attorneys was me to give them 500.00 to take hold off acct and make some kind of agreement, if not they will garnish my pay. I lived with my daughter and her father and he doesn't work so the only income is mines. If I close acct will I get in worser trouble? Or if I let garnishment occur will they take whole pay or a portion per pay period and how much?

You basically can' close the account if he is frozen. The amount they will or can take varies greatly by state, the most common amount is 25 percent, but that will be less in some states depending on your income in some.

If you were properly served notice of the judgement, and if you chose not to show up or if you did show up, you lost, there is little you can do at this point but work out a payment plan with them. They are holding the card now.
