My DVD+-R/RW drives do not recognize any
Disks. I have tried these drives in anoher computer and
They work fine. I keep getting the "Please insert a disk
into drive D:," error when I use them in this
Computer. I have already tried using differnet disks.
Last time I remember burning a DVD was about couple weeks back. I just
Started getting this error about a week ago. The OS reports the
Correct hardware in the hardware
Device list. Could something have been corrupted on the
Software side to prevent disks from being read?

Hi you say that you tried different discs but are you sure these are the right format DVD-R etc and they are the correct way up? I know I sounds a bit stupid but my discs are plain and look identical bothsides. I got the same error and couldn't work it out until I flipped the disc over lol

You say that you have tried this drive in another computer and it works fine, so ask yourself what is different on this other computer.
Also ask yourself what has cjhanged since you last burnt a disc on this machine.
You maybe able to do a System restore back to when you knew it worked correctly.

It may be something as simple as Hardware drivers or updates on your DVD burning software. Have you checked these things ?

This sometimes happens with optical drives. The first thing to try is to remove the drive from Device Manager, then reboot and have the system redetect or reinstall the drive.

Also the optical drives will do that if its firmware is out of date... Even though most of the drives (especially store bought brands) come with the latest firmware, you never know. It's a good idea to check if it has the latest firmware.
