We're looking to replace our standard switch plates with "decorative" plates, mainly in the kitchen backsplash. We have seen plenty of options for the plates, from pewter to copper to nickel, etc. Are there options for the actual switches themselves?
Can we get switches, such as simple light switches, or standard and GFI outlets in other colors or materials? If so, where should we look for these?
We have the standard white plastic plates and switches, and we're thinking about switching to pewter plates. Would black plastic switches and outlets be our best options for the actual switches and plugs? Where should we look for options?
Thanks!!

DTmille2 - I don't recall any switches or recepticals, comeing in black. You can get alldifferent kinds of colors in all different kinds of materials, and designsdont worry about fitting, they are all made the same, except some are made as one cover for multibale switches or recepticals. I guess if you can't find any black you can get some black paint and paint them, paint will even stick tp plastic covers. You can go to Lowe's< HOME DEPOT< ANY LARGE ELECTRICAL STORE,OR a Rural king, they all handle what ever you need, I myself like Lowe's GooD luck ,GOD BLESS :::: F.B.E.

Almost any home center will have 20-30 different light switch plates and many are very decorative. The switch itself can remain but the color may not match . Like FBE points out you can painthe toggle part if you want.

Thanks for the info! We'll probably order some really fancy ones my wife has been eyeing, and then paint the plastic pieces to roughly match.
Thanks!

Black has been around for years, many times you have to have supplier order, GFI's switches and recepticles are available in black as well as screwless plates. Looks good against Granite(depending on color of Granite)Grey, Brown, Ivory, and Almond Is also common enough. I have a Tendency to use White Decora as most Automation Stuff is available in White only.
Decora Makes the Black.
Take a look through here, you don't have to buy, but will give a wide variety of what's out there:
