I had the perm crowns placed on Dec 27th. At first I could not bite down without my entire jaw sifting to the left. I went back & the dentist fixed that. Now the center of my jaw is radiating pain (mainly in the evening) effecting the upper teeth as well as the lower teeth with new crowns. I have been taking antibiotics for six days and it is not helping with the pain or the swelling.

Get started on some ibuprofen (Advil). Take it as directed. This will help the pain and work as an anti-inflammatory. Have stress levels been high? Perhaps you are clenching or grinding your teeth? Do you sit at a computer all day? If so, pay attention to your posture, be sure your head is straight and your chin tucked down. We often fall into a forward head posture that causes us to clench when working at a computer.
If the Advil doesn't help in 2-3 days go back to your dentist, he/she may have to adjust other teeth rather than the crown.
