Any advice please help. I have had Dobermans all my life but have never encountered this problem before.
We bought a 16 week old Dobbie last week and she was brought up on a farm with her brothers and sisters. She was able to roam free and has never been introduced to a collar or lead.
I almost straight away introduced a collar to her and she wears it for abut an hour a day in the house. She has had no problem with this. As soon as I put her on a lead she lays down and refuses point blank to get up!!
I am being very patient with her but I don't know really where to start to try and calm her.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You are doing the right thing in acclimating her to the collar. Short periods in the house, then each day, lengthen the time by 5 or 10 minutes until she is completely used to wearing a collar. You need to do the same thing with a leash. Pick up a cheap leash and cut off the handle loop so that she doesn't get caught on anything and hurt walking around. Use that leash solely for training her in the house. Put it on her and leave her be as you did with the collar. Start with 10 minutes of "leash time" in the house and every day leave it on for 5 minutes longer. Just as she has done with the collar, she will adjust to a leash.

Labman has a sticky at the top of this forum that is geared toward new dog owners. Please read through it. I would suggest when you have moment, go to your local library with his suggested reading list and see what you can find. Sometimes, if we haven't dealt with a puppy in a while, we need to brush up on our training techniques. Here is the link to his sticky: https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/dogs/information-articles-our-dogs-expert-labman-53153.html#post251802
