I owe $4000 to S.C. Dept. of Revenue for taxes owed from 2006. This is due to receiving my 401K and it not getting taxed as it should have been. They are wanting to levy my wages of $50 weekly. I had written a letter requesting to have an installment plan of $50/month but never got an answer until the levy was sent to my employer.

I want to know what I can do to stop this? I will pay monthly but due to job changes and my financial situation I can't pay $200 month at all or I will lose my home. MY name is on the deed with my mothers name, she lives their I don't but I pay the house payment. If necessary could they not just put a lien on the house until the taxes are paid in full, what dies a lien on the house do? I certainly would not want my mother to know because it would worry her to death and she isn't in good health. Please advise what I could do?

If your name is on the deed, then, yes, SC CAN put a lien on the house until the tax debt is paid.

Call the SC Department of Revenue and request an live interview with the tax representative handling your case. It has been my experience that if you are willing to enter into a mutually-agreed-to payment plan, the state tax authorities will accommodate you.
