Hi,

I am a felon, just convicted back in August for dealing marijuana. And I am wanting to get into a recognized school for Audio Engineering. I am currently attending IVY Tech and have a 4.0, but would rather have a degree from a more prestigious college.

Does anyone know if it is possible for a felon to get into a prestigious university? I mean it is a non-violent crime and the field I am wanting to get into really focuses on your creative ability more than your background.

If anyone knows of a felon who has been admitted to a university please let me know, it would be great encouragement :).

There is no rule that they can not, BUT, of course you will be competeing against many others wanting to get in. Your grads, recommendatins from people, (esp pror grads from that school) all help.

It is if you can sell yourself to the admission department.

But please understand, dealing drugs is a serious crime for a college, since if a student got arrested for dealing drugs on their campus, it would hurt greatly.

Hello 3:

I've never heard of a school doing a background check. Is there an application? Do they have certain requirements for enrollment? I would check that stuff out first.

If they don't have any requirements, other than paying the tuition, then they can't refuse you.
