Regarding filing Income Taxes (over age of 70), on Social Security Income? Is there an amount of Social Security Received for the year that dictates whether I have to file Income Taxes on "only Social Security" only income earned in 2007, or any other year?

It depends on how much your gross income was for 2006. If over $25,000 you MAY have to pay some tax on SS. Do the SS worksheet in the Fed. Tax forms. Good luck!

If your ONLY income is Social Security income, then you will owe NO income taxes. In fact, you do not even have to file a tax return.
Further, if your children are helping you out financially, THEY may be legally allowed to claim you as a dependent even though you do NOT live with them. Email me for details on this aspect of your tax situation.

If the disability is Social Security Disability, then you do NOT have to file a tax return.
However, if her disability is from her prior employment, then that disability pay is considered replacement income for her salary and thus is taxable income. In that case, a tax return IS probably required.
