a bus company currently has a daily ridership of 4000 passengers at a price of $2 a ticket. The company must have daily revenues of $10450. For every $0.15 increase they will lose 40 passengers. What fare should they charge?

I think that the equation is... but I'm not sure
10450=(4000-40x)(2+015x)

the other question is

a soccer field, 110m x 60m is to be surrounded by an area of equal width for spectators. If the area of the field and spectator area is to be 9374 square metres, how wide is the spectator area?

If by x you indicate the "number of $0.15 increases", then the first equations is right (other than the missing decimal point in the 0.15).

The second question is exactly the same: if you call x the width of the spectator area, then the total width of the field plus spectator area would be 60+2x and the total length 110+2x. The product of these is to give you the total area of 9374 sqm. Write it down and solve it.
