I was recently evicted from my apt, even though rent was late but current. They would not allow me to come back on property to retrieve my belongings, saying they would put them out on the side of the road. ( a busy thoroughfare) after keeping me waiting for five days, they called to tell me they were putting items out and to rush there. All of my furniture and most of my belongings were stolen (much of it by apt workers). What I did receive was purposefully broken, torn, food and paint poured on clothes and other items. How do I begin the process of getting restitution for my stuff?

Are you saying you were locked out and were not given an eviction notice? What state are you in?

And you have accepted all of this the second I got kicked out I would have been hassling them with the courts and police

Were you evicted in a Court proceeding? What State?

I don't understand the "rent was late but current" statement -

And Small Claims Court is probably going to be the answer.

If you were evicted by a court order there is nothing you can do, sitting your things to the side of the road is what they do.

If the landlrod merely did it, you can sue them for the loss of all of your belongings.

And also, you can not be current and late at the same time. If you are late you are not current
