I have an 18 year old son who did not finish high school. He ended up going to a charter school (still part of the San Diego Unified School District) because his grades were not good and could not graduate with his class. He was only going 2 days a week. Recently, the teacher informed me that he has transferred to an Adult Education School that offer GED and Vocational Training in Mid-December 2007.

From my understanding, if a child is 18 years old and is a full time high school student, child support continues until they graduate or turns 19.

Also, I tried to contact the Adult Education School to get information as to how far he has to go to get his GED but they would not release any information since he is 18 and it is an adult school which is not part of the San Diego Unified School District.

I am estranged from my son (adopted) and his mother. I have no way of knowing if and when he gets his GED or if he drops out.

Can I request the court to end child support since he is no longer in high school?

I'd petition the Court to see if the child support can be terminated also. It does not automatically "go away" either in some states, by the way. The person who pays the child supprt must peitition the court for the ending of same. Why not start now?

Yes, you can, your ex can protest and present her evidence as to why it should continue. The court will decide.
