In my haste to complete the swap of my old thermostat with a new programmable thermostat (Honeywell RTH230B) I removed the old thermostat without labeling the wires. I mistakenly thought that the letters corresponded to the wire colors, but the CD instructions (not the paper instructions that come with the kit) specifically state NOT to connect the wires to the terminals based on the color of the wires. How can I determine which wire is the heat relay, cool relay, fan relay, etc. I have four wires (red, white, green and blue). My heat is off in January so I am in a bit of a mess. Any ideas?

OK you still have your old stat, right. Did the colors of the wires match the colors of the terminals on the old stat? I know you have disconnected them but is there at least a match if you just make a list of colors on the stat and the cable. They tell you to not connect based on color because someone else may have already screwed your system up, maybe not. Go to your furnace panel and see if the color wire matches at the panel end, if it does you can be safe to connect the new stat by color alone. How many wires do you have and what colors.
