I recently went into a Kroger to purchase some roses for an employee's birthday and found one dz were marked down so I decided to buy two dz. Since I was in a hurry I grab both dz and put them in one bag, as I preceded to bag them the florist came up to me and suggested I put them in separate bags. I am by no means a floral expert, so I thought maybe they would get damaged in one bag so I separated them. Well in the xpress lane I made two transactions, I paid for one dz with my debit card and the other dz with cash. After I return to work someone from Kroger called and ask for a manager which in this case was me. She preceded to tell me one of my employees had been in to purchase roses but only scan and paid for one. I then told her that she was mistaken I was the employee and had made two separate transactions. She then apologized and said the florist came and asked her about me and the roses. Well I went back and spoken with one of the asst. managers and he also apologized and gave me some coupons. Well after this I called the 1-800 no. and they had the head manager call back with the same routine, my thing is these people call my job and accused me of stealing a marked down dz of roses my general manager could have fired me on the spot if he thought I was taken store money and not using it correctly. Is this a form of slander?
