I"m a 30 year old woman and i recently noticed a lump under my right arm.I went to the doctors and was told that it could"ve been caused by shaving. This was three weeks ago .I was given medication but the lump never went away. Now I've noticed a painful lump under my left arm I'm hoping that this is not serious what should I do?

Once, I got allergic or something to my deodorant that I had used for over 20 years... I think I had a lump in my armpit at that time, but don't remember, it may have been a different time. You will probably have to allow up to a month for the lumps to go away.

I think you have to wash your armpits with soap and water in the morning and forgo the deodorant for awhile, and continue to use the medicine your physician gave you.

Go back to the doctor. Have you been ill recently? It could be swollen lymph nodes, however it could be an infection, some serious... some not so serious, but a proper exam and diagnosis is necessary in case it is one of the serious infections.

I had painful lumps under my armpits a while ago and I went to the Dr and he noticed scratches on my arm and asked if I had a cat and I said yeah just got a kitten a month ago the Dr determined it was cat scratch fever I laughed at him cause I thought he was making a joke but he was serious. He gave me some antibiotics and it knocked it out with in a month.

However, I do agree with Choux if you are using antiperspirant not deodorant (yes there is a difference) that can cause lumps under your arms because of the aluminum-based compound in antiperspirant. It closes up the glands and I guess they can get clogged and cause painful lumps also.

I have had this before it could be one of two things A. breast cancer B. an infection! I had the infection which oddly enough was a respitory infection the doctor told me that the body's second line of defence is limpth notes which can swell just about anywhere.
I would definally go back to see the doctor and inform her that they have not gone away!
Best of luck
