How do you locate information on going to the justice of peace/courthouse to get married in Atlanta GA? I am too old for a wedding and would rather spend money on something else.:)

Call the local Clerk of Court's office listed in the phone book under Marriage Licenses. They will give you the marriage license fee amount and if you want to be married by a Judge there at the Courthouse you can do it there (have to make an appointment though).

If you want, you can also be married by a notary public (which is another name for justice of the peace). Don't forget to bring along the documentation that the clerk's office will advise you when you apply for a marriage license.

Good Luck!

Not all states recognize a Notary as a Justice of the Peace. I am a Notary in both Michigan and Tennessee, but cannot perform marriages.

Notaries do not perform marriages in Georgia. Call the Fulton County Probate Court, unless you live in Dekalb or Cobb counties, in which event you call the probate court of the county in which you reside.
