I inserted a picture taken by the home inspector that just inspected my house. There was a concern about a column/pillar that was moved to create room for a carport. The inspector wants to know if the construction was done by an expert but the seller also bought it like that and there is no documents for it. The column/pillar is a support for the front porch and he said where the column/pillar was taken away from is sagging. If there is any construction expert or engineer, do you think there could be a major issue with this. More so, the seller had lived there for nine years. We don't want to throw our money away. Please help! Hopefully you guys kow how to upload the picture that I attached. It also has some other concerns and comments from the inspector.

Try using the "Go Advanced" box under the Answer this Question box. I have not done one but that is where you start. The picture will be necessary to help you.

Have you bought the house yet?

Anything sagging where a support post was removed has to be bad news. Probably the safest thing is to have a contractor over to estimate redoing the header where the old post was... and then hammering on the vendor to reduce the price.
