I hope someone can help me. I am trying to remember the name of a story that was read to me when I was in elementary school. From what I remember, the story takes place in the future and the narrator is living through a war against aggressive alien invaders. Throughout the story the reader is led to believe that the planet being invaded is Earth and the invaders are from some far off planet, but in the end the narrator describes what the "Alien" invader looks like and it turns out that the invaders are human and the aliens are actually the ones being attacked. I only have a vague memory of the story but I'd love to read it again. So if anyone out there knows the title, it would be greatly appreciated!

Using certain words as alien invaders etc.
It took me 1 1/2 hours to find my book
But I was so happy to find it
