I've been on the pill 21 days, and I took the last one before a 7 day break of Saturday morning, its now Monday and I still haven't bled, is this normal? Also how long do you bleed for? I am going away this weekend and really cannot afford to be on my period. I was wondering if I could start the pill a few days under 7 days, for example Thursday or Friday, would this stop my period for the weekend? Or providing I eventually come on, would the pill not stop the bleeding once its started, please help as I REALLY can't be on this weekend! Thanks

Did you just start the pill 21 days ago? Was this your first pack?

Since you took your last pill on Saturday, you will need to stay off for the entire 7 days then start a new pack. Unfortunately, at this point, you will get your period even if you start a new pack as you have had 2 days without the pill.

If you start the new pack on Thursday or Friday, you should have already started your period, it should actually start around Tuesday or maybe as late as Wednesday. So, it's too late for that.

You can, for future reference, continue on with the next pack, without skipping a pill, so as to go an extra month without your period. However, it is advised not to do this on a reoccurring basis.

Thanks for your help, what I needed, I did know you could continue straight away, but with it being the first time I've been on the pill I didn't particularly want to do that. So even if I started the pill again today, am I still going to bleed as I've had 2 days without? What happens if I do it in the off chance I may not, is that dangerous? Also I heard being on the pill reduces the days your on for, so could I still be off for the weekend, thing is before I went on the pill I was always on for around 7 days, so that won't change will it?

Also... on new years eve, we had sex and the condom split, obviously I'm on the pill, and had been for 3 weeks, I know there's a chance I could be pregnant, but is this likely?

Most likely you will still bleed. If you start the other pack now, you will have what is called breakthrough bleeding. It's not dangerous, but will certainly mess up your cycles, which could take a few months to get it back to normal.

The period with the pill can be different for every woman. You may go shorter, or you could bleed the entire 7 days. It's hard to tell as of yet since you have only used one pack.

Is it likely you got pregnant on New Year's Eve? Well, that too is hard to say. Should you have been ovulating around that time? There is no method of birth control that is 100% effective. My 2 oldest sons are what I call "pill babies." I took the pill religiously at the same time every day, yet I still managed to get pregnant.

Thanks very much for your help, really appreciated! :D
I've heard so many stories from women getting pregnant despite using pills and condoms, so how they can say its 99% effective is concern to me!
