I had one installed by a plumber on Dec 28/07. It does not work at all. I would like to know if there is a common problem some of you have encountered that causes the Humidifier not to function, and what is the fix.

I have checked the wiring (not re-doing the marrets)and all seems fine, 24v post wire in transformer runs to the humidistat, 12v post wire on transformer to the solenoid on humidifier and to humidistat, white wire from furnace runs into transformer. The hum on the panel of the furnace is connected using a push clip fastener as opposed to a screw in type. The water line is pierced using the supplied equipt. And runs up to the solenoid. After all this there is not a drop of water being drawn into the humidifier! could it be that the solenoid is N/S? Or does someone have an idea what went wrong.

Thanks for your time.

If you have voltage and the solenoid valve is opening your problem is with the water feed. Many times the orifice will plug up with debris not allowing water to pass to the unit. Also the tap line for the water feed can become restricted. You can try closing off the water feed valve and then reopening to see if that helps if not remove the discharge tube at the solenoid and check the orifice for debris.

Almost all humidifiers need a yearly maintaince which usually consist of replacing the pad and with some units the replacement of the small plastic orifice. These units can be heavy water users and that is the reason I replace the orifice instead of using a pin to clear the obstruction. When you clean the orifice it usually ends up with a bigger hole in the orifice and a higher water bill.

Thanks,

I will try what you said and see if anything works.
