Our house is 5 years old. We have a plumbing vent under our kitchen sink. Since day 1 every time the washing machine empties (located in a separate room) we hear loud gurgling noices from the kitchen sink. Should this happen as we have never had a vent under the sink at any of our other homes?
Thanks.

Is your vent an AAV, air admittance valve that is used when conventional vent stacks are not practical?

AAV's can go bad. A gurgle indicates that it's not doing its job and the sink is attempting to vent through the trap. Replace the AAV and see if that doesn't solve the problem. Good luck, Tom

Studor is a brand of AAV. A mini vent is cheap and easy to replace so do what Tom says.

Thank you. I'll let you know if it works.
